Located in the Gulf of Thailand, between South Vietnam and Southern Cambodia, Phu Quoc Island is a splendid tropical island getaway with beautiful white sandy beaches and quaint fishing villages. This piece of paradise has not yet been over run by huge resorts so if you are not into overcrowded beaches, get there now! The island is 48km in length and densely forested and mountainous with close to 70% of the island protected since becoming a National Park in 2001. The dry season runs from October to April, the rainy season runs from May to September. The average temperature is 27 degree Celsius, although it can be very hot in the rainy season.
Recreation
Adventure abounds on this island from motor biking empty dirt roads, scuba diving coral reefs, swimming and snorkeling on secluded beaches, fishing tours and walking in the National Park. Or you can simply enjoy a cheap and delicious seafood meal followed by a cocktail on the beach!
Getting there
Vietnam Airlines has several daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc’s main town, Duong Dong. The flight takes 50 minutes. It is about 10 to 15 minutes drive to the resort area and Long Beach. Or you can extend your Inner Journey Expeditions Mekong Delta cycling holiday and take a two hour boat trip from Rach Gia on the coast to the pier at Phu Quoc Island and fly back to Ho Chi Minh City at the end of your stay.

This resort is very “chilled out” and secluded. Set on Ong Lang beach with a native forest backdrop, the resort offers 16 rooms and bungalows all with terraces. There is no air-conditioning, but bungalows come with sea views, four-poster beds and fans. It’s also eco-friendly using solar panels and organic and recycled building materials.
